Winter Tires - Responsibility Above All Else!

Miholj summer is counting its last days this year, so many drivers probably haven't even thought about changing their seasonal tires yet.

However, we would like to remind you that according to the Road Traffic Safety Law, from November 1st to April 1st, all drivers are obligated to have appropriate winter tires with a clearly visible tread depth of at least 5 millimeters on all four wheels of their vehicles in case of precipitation, low temperatures, snow, ice, or slippery road conditions.

Besides the safety risks, which should be everyone's top priority and significantly increase with the use of inadequate tires during the winter season, there is also a fine stipulated by the Law. The fine ranges from £60 to £200 for individuals and from £1,000 to £8,000 for legal entities, as the vehicle is considered technically unfit in such cases.

Additionally, in the event of a traffic accident caused by a vehicle without winter equipment, the insurance company will initially cover the damages to the affected party but will subsequently seek reimbursement from the vehicle owner or driver responsible for the accident, following the usual procedure.

In any case, risking it is not worth it. Therefore, be responsible and comply with the law. If you don't already have winter tires as a backup, a set of new tires starts at £160 and goes up. While this may be a significant expense for an average monthly household budget in Serbia, considering the long term, it is indeed a worthwhile investment. Taking into account that the stake is personal safety and the safety of other road users, you shouldn't have any doubts about visiting a tire service in the coming days.
