All 'yellow' lanes in Belgrade (MAP)

Since the end of 2019, there has been an increasing discussion in the media about the strengthened traffic control in the "yellow" lane, and even the introduction of new "yellow" sections into the traffic flow of Belgrade.

The idea of the authorities is to expedite the flow of vehicles within the public transportation system (buses, trolleybuses, trams, and minibuses) which currently have an average speed of only 13 kilometers per hour.

While this decision may be justified from the perspective of public transportation usage, it raises the question of how much narrowing the "maneuvering" space on certain roads will impact other traffic participants and the well-known traffic congestion in Belgrade, especially considering the constant increase in the number of cars in the capital city.

While some "yellow" lanes in the city were even abolished during the previous year (Vojislava Ilića, Sinđelićeva, Beogradska...), entirely new ones are planned to be introduced in the early months of 2020 (Omladinskih brigada, Jurija Gagarina, Sarajevska, Bulevar vojvode Mišića...).

Enhanced vehicle movement control will be established along these lanes, with video surveillance intended to document any violations by drivers who do not comply with the new signage.

The prescribed fines for non-compliance with the "yellow" lane rules will remain the same as before, 5000 dinars.

Below, you can see all the roads where the "yellow" lanes extend in Belgrade.
