The tourist season is a time when transit traffic on Serbian roads is traditionally the heaviest. When you add the waiting times at toll booths and ongoing roadworks, which are also in season, the result is hours-long waits at border crossings to Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, which are particularly relevant these days.

Prolonged waiting in kilometre-long queues at the border can be not only boring but also a very unpleasant experience, especially if you are travelling with small children or if you are hungry, thirsty, or in need of a restroom, and so on.
