If the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia and the world is under control, the authorities have agreed for all festivals and events scheduled for the second half of 2020 to take place.
Currently, it is planned that the beginning of Bitef festival will be moved to the end of September and early October, Bemus will be held in the first week of November instead of October, and the Belgrade Jazz Festival will take place in December. When it comes to the Book Fair, the date remains unchanged for now and remains in the usual last week of October.
"Mamma mia" opens the summer stage
At the initiative of the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade, a meeting of directors of Belgrade theaters was held to design a theater program during the summer in Belgrade.
The theaters have accepted the proposal to stage performances at the Tašmajdan Stadium from the end of June and in July. The event is scheduled to start on June 25 with the performance of the musical "Mamma Mia" at the Terazije Theater, directed by Jug Radivojević. The creative team includes Jug Radivojević and playwright Slobodan Obradović, Vesna Šouc/Milan Nedeljković (conductor), Mojca Horvat (choreographer), Bojana Nikitović, Aleksandar Denić, with a cast including Milena Živanović, Iva Manojlović, Tatjana Dimitrijević, Jelena Jovičić, Milena Vasić, Slobodan Stefanović. It was previously announced that the Belgrade Drama Theater would present the play "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" on the summer stage, with Dragan Bjelogrlić in the lead role.
The invitation to perform plays during the summer at Tašmajdan Stadium was also extended to private theaters and productions, as the aim of the action is to bring theater professionals together after a period of isolation.
Belgrade Dance Festival, which was scheduled to take place from March 13 to April 12, has been postponed, and a large part of the program will be presented in September and November 2020. All tickets for the postponed programs are valid. However, if the new date for the chosen program is not suitable for you, you can redirect the funds to other festival programs or request a refund. Night of Museums, originally scheduled for May 16, has been moved to September 5, and this year's theme will be love.
The organization of Belgrade Beer Fest has not yet confirmed whether the event will be held this year (planned for August 12-16).
Exit Festival is uncertain. One of the most popular festivals in Europe is scheduled to celebrate its 20th anniversary this summer. The organizers of Exit state that the final decision will depend on the measures imposed by the authorities, as the health and safety of visitors are the top priority.
Confirmation has been received from Vrnjačka Banja that the Lovefest will take place from August 6th to 7th. Lovefest, which has been growing year by year, has hosted some of the most renowned international names such as Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, Bucka Shade, James Zabiela, Keni Larkin, and many others. Tickets can be purchased through their website.
Regarding Nišville Jazz Festival, the 26th edition, the festival director has stated that the final decision on whether it will be held will be made on July 1st. The municipality of Zaječar has proposed that the 54th Zaječar Guitar Festival be held from September 5th to 7th instead of the regular June dates.
Palić Film Festival will take place
The European Film Festival Palić, scheduled to take place from July 18th to 24th this year, may be postponed. Nevertheless, the organizers remain optimistic and state that the event will undoubtedly take place this summer.
Trumpet Festival in Guča
The coronavirus epidemic has disrupted the plans for the Trumpet Festival in Guča. For now, the event has been postponed to October. The 60th jubilee Trumpet Festival was originally scheduled to take place from August 3rd to 9th. However, considering the state of emergency and the coronavirus, it is certain that it will not be held at that time. The Organizing Committee has another solution, which is to hold the festival on October 14th, the same day when the first Dragačevski Trumpet Festival was held in 1961.
The Festival of Flutists in Prislonica is scheduled for July 18th and 19th this year, and for now, the event will not be rescheduled.
