Section Corridor 11 from Obrenovac to Ljig, spanning approximately 62 kilometers, was officially opened on Sunday, 18th August.
With the opening of this section, which connects to the existing Ljig - Preljina highway segment, two sections of Corridor 11 totaling around 103 kilometers have been joined.
By linking Obrenovac and Čačak with a unique highway, significant relief of traffic congestion is expected on the traditionally overloaded Ibar highway, as well as a noticeable reduction in travel time between Belgrade and Čačak.
However, the full benefits of the new highway will be experienced next year when, according to announcements, the key segment of Corridor 11 (Surčin - Obrenovac) should be completed. This will connect the new E-763 highway with the Belgrade bypass, namely the E-75 and E-70 highways, resulting in a travel time from Belgrade to Čačak of approximately one hour.
The newly opened highway section, symbolically named "Miloš Veliki", consists of three lanes in each direction and is designed for maximum speeds of 130 kilometers per hour. It includes 42 bridges and overpasses, one state-of-the-art tunnel (Brančić), and three interchanges (Ub, Lajkovac, and Ljig) featuring side toll plazas, as well as one terminal interchange. Toll collection will begin on September 1st, and until then, the use of the highway will be free of charge.
Along the entire 103-kilometer stretch of the highway, there are several rest areas, but there are currently no petrol stations or electric vehicle charging stations. Therefore, drivers who are running low on fuel are advised to refuel before embarking on their journey.
Corridor 11, officially known as highway E-763 Belgrade - South Adriatic, is designed as a branch of the so-called Trans-European corridor, which connects Northern Europe with the Adriatic Sea, specifically Bar. The segment of Corridor 11 that passes through Serbia will consist of several sections: Belgrade - Obrenovac, Obrenovac - Ub, Ub - Lajkovac, Lajkovac - Donji Banjani (Ljig), Donji Banjani - Boljkovci, Boljkovci - Takovo (Gornji Milanovac), Takovo - Preljina, Preljina - Prijevor (Čačak), Prijevor - Lučani, Lučani - Požega, Požega - Boljare (Sjenica).
You can see the detailed route of the recently completed section of highway E-763, from Obrenovac to Ljig, among the first on the PlanPlus map.
